Songwriter, Composer, Filmmaker Robert Wait had been writing and recording songs and hiding them away for years. Sure, he'd play a few for friends once in a while, but mostly, they went into drawers, stored away like pages in a diary. Only after he spent several months in Nepal, making a documentary about the mountain people there called the Sherpas, did events conspire to open this diary to a larger audience....

Anyone who has spent time in the Himalayas can attest to the spell they cast on a person's soul. Somehow, the clutter of Western existence washes away and the essential things about one's life become clear.

Very early one morning in a small village, a tiny Sherpa woman was trying to catch a gigantic Yak to squeeze out some udder milk for the morning tea. Through the smoke from the nearby campfire it was like a magical slow motion scene from a favorite movie. As he watched, Robert heard his inner voice speaking calmly, but assuredly: "Life is meant to be simple. Focus on the things that come naturally. Do something with your songwriting...".

So upon returning home, when a film director friend familiar with Robert's songwriting obsession asked for songs and a score for his next movie, the answer was simple. The resulting collaboration launched a career for Robert writing songs and scores for movies and television. He hopes someday to find time to vacation in Nepal....
